The average US commuter emits ~0.393 kg CO₂ per mile driven (EPA 2025). Eliminating 245 commute days per year via remote work is often the single largest CO₂ lever for office-based SMEs.
Cloud factors are from the Cloud Carbon Footprint open-source project (2024 averages). Commute factors use EPA 2025 average passenger vehicle emissions. Both are reviewed annually.
For GHG Protocol Scope 3 reporting, document the methodology version, factor source, and calculation date shown in the Methodology panel. Supplement with vendor-provided Scope 3 data for audited filings.
